Education Cards

Richland County teachers, child care providers and college students (see definitions below) will be issued an Education card. Education cards will expire one year from the date issued, but can be renewed by showing appropriate documentation.

Education cardholders will have borrowing privileges equivalent to Resident/Owner cardholders, regardless of whether they reside in Richland County.

Definitions:

Richland County Teacher

A customer will be registered as a teacher if employed as a teacher in a public or private school (K4-12th) located in Richland County. Teachers will need to show current schoolID, current pay statement or letterhead documentation from the school. The teachers’name, school and school email address will be listed on the library record.

Richland/Lexington 5 teachers are eligible for Education cards.

Teachers who are already registered Resident/Owner cardholders, may hold an Education card in addition to their personal card.

Richland County Child Care Provider

A customer will be registered as a child care provider if they are the owner, director or teacher of a licensed child care facility located in Richland County. Child care providers will need to show pay statements or other appropriate documentation from the licensed child care facility.

Child care providers who are already registered Resident/Owner cardholders, may hold an Education card in addition to their personal card.

Richland County College Student

A customer will be registered as a college student if they attend a college or university located in Richland County. Students will need to show valid, current school ID or other documentation from school showing that they are an active student. The student’s name,school and school email address will be listed on the library record.
