Q Why is the pineapple used as a symbol of hospitality?
Columbus found pineapple on the Caribbean island of Guadeloupe in 1493; scientists believe the fruit originated in Brazil. Islanders hung crowns sculpted from pineapples above their homes as a welcome to visitors.
