Ask a Librarian
Q How do I open a journal that is "held locally"? It does not have a link for a PDF.
If an online research tool indicates that a journal is 'held locally' then the database you are searching does not contain the full-text of the article, but only an index (or citation). The good news is that 'held locally' indicates that Richland Library has it in print or on microfilm at the News Desk on the second level at Main Library. We may also have the article in another database, some carry full-text where others only carry the index. If you provide the citation you are needing to us then we can check to see if it is in another online database, or you can search Serials Solutions for the journal title to see which Richland Library-owned database provides full-text coverage of that journal. And feel free to call the News Desk at (803) 929-3405 for further assistance locating journal articles.
