Q My number in the holds queue moved backwards.
Your place in the waiting list for a title may occasionally move backwards instead of forwards. This occurs because someone ahead of you missed picking up their hold due to extenuating circumstances, such as an illness or a problem with notifications on our end. In such cases we may move someone to the front of the line as a courtesy. Our new catalog system is very sensitive and accurate in the holds count and so you can see these slight adjustments, although we have always done this as a rule. We like to think that this is the best practise for all concerned.
Please be assured that we try to accommodate everyone's best interest in the holds process. We hope you never have to wait too long for a popular item to arrive for you on the holds shelf.
