Benefit Bank Counselors Hold Office Hours at Richland Library

Each year thousands of families in South Carolina do not claim more than $800 million in federal work supports for which they are eligible in the form of tax credits, public benefits, and student financial aid. The Benefit Bank is a one-stop shop for customers who want to apply for those support services in our community by connecting these resources to one easy to use application.

Richland Library now has trained and certified counselors for The Benefit Bank. Our counselors can help you apply for:

  • Food Assistance (SNAP)
  • Family Independence (formerly known as Temporary Assistance for Needy Families)
  • Medicaid
  • Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Basic telephone service
  • And register to vote
  • A customer can sit down with a counselor and apply for the services in which they are eligible, in one application, without having to travel to each business or organization and fill out separate applications.

If you have are interested in learning more about The Benefit Bank or setting up an appointment to meet with a trained counselor, please call or email Lee Patterson at 803-231-6383 or visit one of the branches below when a counselor will be there.
