The Café

Located on the First Level of Richland Library Main, The Café is a fast-casual restaurant operated by Chef Sarah Simmons and her husband and business partner, Aaron Hoskins. Featuring beverages, baked goods, snacks, sandwiches and salads, The Café also serves as the hub for the library’s new culinary residency program.

Culinary Residencey

The Culinary Residency program seeks to provide prospective entrepreneurs with hands-on experience in the operation of a food service business. Working closely with Celebrity Chef and Restaurateur Sarah Simmons, residents will learn the ins and outs of food prep, marketing, customer service, and more, while offering library customers fresh, local culinary delights.

Application Forms

Sarah Simmons

Celebrity Chef and Restaurateur Sarah Simmons continually brings a touch of southern hospitality to her culinary endeavors. Well-known for her success with Rise Gourmet Goods & Bakeshop in Columbia, Birds and Bubbles and City GRIT in New York City, she currently serves as the CEO of the City Grit Hospitality Group.

A graduate of Spring Valley High School, Simmons rocketed to fame in 2010 after winning the America’s Home Cook Superstar contest, hosted by Food & Wine magazine. Through initiatives, like combined-workspace, culinary professional training and partnering with farm-to-table efforts and charitable organizations, Simmons latest enterprises are sure to shift the balance of food prosperity in Columbia.
