    I had the experience of attending segregated and integrated public schools in the south during the late sixties and early seventies.  My formal education began with a totally segregated system that initially changed with mandated faculty integration.   By the time I reached the eighth grade, there was full integration; both the student population and faculty.  Since I was in the midst of these dramatic changes, I experienced the pitfalls and the triumphs of both systems.
