Breaking Barriers Employment and Resource Fair

On October 18 Richland Library will partner with the Midlands Area Consortium of the Homeless (MACH) and the United Way of the Midlands to host our second-annual Breaking Barriers Employment and Resource Fair. Last year we served over 120 customers. This year we are planning an even bigger event with two pre-event workshops.

The Breaking Barriers Employment and Resource Fair is a free event, open to individuals with any sort of barriers to employment. This includes people with transportation issues or criminal backgrounds, people who are homeless, individuals with disabilities, and more. All are welcome to attend.

For Employers. We welcome employers who are happy to work with individuals with these barriers. Registration is FREE but tables are limited, and reservation is required for businesses. Reserve a table by visiting: More information will be provided once you complete your registration.

For the Public. You do not need to register to attend this event. However, we have planned a series of FREE events before the Employment Fair to help make sure you are ready to go. Both events require pre-registration. You can use the links below to learn more and to register.

  1. Breaking Barriers Career Readiness Workshop - attendees will receive a coupon towards free business attire to wear to the Employment Fair.
  2. Breaking Barriers Expungement Workshop - attendees will have the opportunity to talk one-on-one with an attorney, for free, about their backgrounds.

If you have any questions or need more information please contact Lee Patterson at Richland Library at 231-6383 or Karina Henry at the United Way at 733-5115.
