Coming Soon: A Space for Teens, Designed with Parents in Mind

The latest space at the Richland Library’s downtown location is dedicated to all things teen, but designed with parents in mind. Parents and teens can take comfort in the knowledge that our new teen center has a number of safety features in place alongside resources to help growing minds flourish. The new area will be reserved solely for teens ages 12 to 18 to hang out, be themselves, study, learn, and grow. Other features include:

  • A teen-centric staff that has participated in Safe Space training with SC Equality, ready to offer a welcoming and open environment for all teens
  • A nonfiction collection that has been developed to support schools’ new common core standards, and a collection of current fiction alongside classics to support growing minds and healthy imaginations
  • A state-of-the-art creative lab that will offer access to cutting edge technology as well as traditional creative tools to foster creative learning
  • A myriad of new educational programs and services
  • Please join us on July 10th at 10am as we unveil this amazing new space and celebrate the teens in our community. Can’t wait for the 10th? Stop by the library today to check out all of our teen resources and materials!
