Tomes: A Collection of Heavy Books
Tome 2

In the Gallery - TOMES

Tomes: A Collection of Heavy Books is currently on display in the Gallery at Main. Columbia, SC, artist Doni Jordan uses mixed media, collages and fiber art in her intricate, textured artworks. Pieces from Tomes have been featured in the New York Public Library, the University Gallery at USC Sumter and Carolina’s Got Art. This exhibit also includes pieces from Jordan’s many collaborations with other artists, public art projects and Richland Library, along with details about the people and process which shaped each final product.

A longtime supporter of Richland Library, Jordan notes:

Libraries are important to me. I spent a lot of time in libraries as a young child and continue to spend time in libraries today. I’m drawn to the sense of place as a repository of information, of knowledge, of history, of possibilities of the future, of people...When visitors or family members come to town, a must see is our incredible library.

Tomes will be at Richland Library, 1431 Assembly Street, Columbia, SC, from January 15 to March 31, 2014.
