Getting the Boots Off: PTSD and the Great Santini....Feb. 13 at 6:30 pm

A simplified definition for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is that it is an anxiety disorder that may develop after exposure to a terrifying event or ordeal in which severe physical harm occurred or was threatened. Traumatic events that may trigger PTSD include violent personal assaults, natural or unnatural disasters, accidents, or military combat.

Licensed Professional Counselor, Jennifer Miller, will discuss first hand her experiences in Iraq and how she has chosen to handle her PTSD. Most importantly she will discuss how she has chosen to help others with this disorder by helping them readjust to coming home and taking the boots off. Ms. Miller interacts with the family unit to increase awareness and understanding, helping individuals adapt to their new environments.
