Happy 3rd Anniversary, Business and Job Center!
As we approach our 3rd anniversary on June 15, staff at Richland Library's Business and Job Center are celebrating our Success Stories and the privilege of developing and enhancing the growth of the center as a community resource for job seekers, small business owners and workforce partners.
The Business and Job Center is making a difference, one-job seeker at a time. Located on the 3rd level at Main, the center offers a variety of career services and resources for all individuals seeking employment. We have highly trained Librarians and Career Coaches working together to help customers through the various aspects of job searching and career planning.
Since June 2010, the Richland Library's Business and Job Center has helped to combat South Carolina's unemployment rate by completing more than 32,500 job-related transactions with customers.
We often receive Success Stories feedback from our customers who want to share good news about a job offer or thank us for our assistance. Customer comments include:

CAREER SERVICES AVAILABLE AT THE JOB CENTER:
COMPUTER ACCESS: Job Seekers are given 3-hours of access per day on 18 designated computers. Guest passes are extended to any job seeker without a library card.
CAREER COACHING: The Career Specialist and Job Readiness Trainer are Certified Career Development Facilitators who conduct one-on-one appointments with customers needing assistance with résumés, job applications, career assessments, job search and networking strategies, online presence (like LinkedIn), career portfolios, and much more.
RÉSUMÉ ASSISTANCE: In addition to Career Coaching appointments, the Job Center offers weekly “Quick & Basic Résumé Sessions” for customers needing assistance to write a simple, basic résumé and a monthly “Review Your Résumé with a Career Coach” to target and refine an already created résumé.
INTERVIEW PRACTICE: During weekly practice interview sessions, trained staff offer customers individual assistance, constructive feedback and empowering guidance regarding the interview process. Every Wednesday from 10 a.m. – noon, first come, first served, no appointments necessary.
CLASSES: FREE classes and presentations include Interviewing Dos and Don’ts, Finding a Job Online, Social Networking for your Job Search or Business, Business Etiquette and more.
