Preparing for the Fall Planting

SA Teens Prepare to Plant the Fall Garden

This week marks the last session of this Summer's Teen Garden Club. It has been very well attended and we all learned many new things. Last session we learned about

  • What time of year to plant different kinds of plants
  • What plants should or should not be planted together or nearby
  • How to clear the garden of plants that have reached the end of their growing season
  • The upcoming session we will plant items selected from a list provided by the The Clemson University Cooperative Extension Service.

These items will be harvested and distributed to our customers as part of our "Frostbite Farmer's Market" in the Fall where you can drop in and sample ripe produce from our garden. Beans, various greens, broccoli, carrots and peppers will likely be ready to end the season.

Next year we hope to have many new things and projects to offer our customers of all ages! There will be several informal sessions offered during the Fall. Call the branch for details and times.
