Thinking Ahead to the New Year

Even though you are still basking in holiday spirit, you may also want to begin thinking ahead to the New Year and your career and technology goals.

Get 2013 off to a running start by attending Richland Library's monthly Career...Encore! networking and job support group on January 3 at 9:30 in the Auditorium at Main. Focus of the January meeting will be "Career Services at the Job Center."

The Job Center will also be offering a new Lunch and Learn Series beginning at 12:00 p.m. on Thursdays in January. These sessions are designed to help you discover more about technology and how it can actually make your life easier!

January 10 - Now Is the Time! Tackling Your Career Resolutions. What skills do you need to advance your career opportunities? Dr. Marva Coates, Richland One Adult Education, Crystal Johnson, Richland Library Computer Basics Instructor and Sylvie Golod, Richland Library Career Specialist, will explain how the library can help you with GED classes, computer classes and career coaching to enhance your job search. Dr. Coates will conduct GED pre-test sign-up for February 2013 GED classes at Main Library at the end of the program.

January 17 - Don't Fear IT! How to Reduce Your Techo-Stress. Are you confused by apps, blogs and QR codes? Let Richland Library help by sharing information about new technologies that you can use in your personal and professional life.

January 24 - Dive Right In! The Latest in Social Networking. Jason Broughton, SC State Library, will demonstrate the latest in web tools such as Pinterest, StumbleUpon, 43 Things, and Tagxedo and more!

Call 929-3457 to register for any, or all, of the Lunch and Learn Series of classes.

We hope to see you in the Job Center!
