Join us for an interactive, music experience that will put the audience in the shoes of a musician. This event, orchestrated by USC School of Music students of the voice and guitar duo Deux Saisons, will include a workshop, rehearsal and performance. Audience members will get the opportunity to create instruments, learn about new music, and perform with professional musicians. The final performance will be a hodgepodge of sounds incorporating 21st century compositions influenced by minimalism, audience participation, and using non-traditional instruments, such as balloons, boomwhackers, and whatever is in your pocket.iPlay is family friendly and a chance for all to walk away with a fresh understanding of what new music is to the classical musician!Event Schedule:At 2:30 p.m. we are doing an Instrument Creation WorkshopYou will be handed a DIY kit for one of the instruments we selected and are free to talk to us about New Music and living composers!At 3 p.m. there will be an open Audience RehearsalYou will get the chance to experience a rehearsal of some of the more intricate pieces involving the audience, including pieces by John Cage and Julius Eastman. There will also be opportunities to interact with the musicians and learn more about the pieces we are performing.And finally, the Performance will be at 4 p.m.We will enjoy all of the work we have done up until this point with a great performance of New Music and audience participation.The Workshop and Rehearsal are encouraged, but not required to come to the performance. Feel free to come at 4 p.m.!
