The Kid's Chess Hour is an opportunity for kids of all levels to come together and play and learn the game of chess. Kid's hour is much the same as an adult chess club - but for kids. Sam Copeland (The reigning South Carolina champion and twice South Carolina's high school champion (2002 and 2003)) or another strong chess player will always be on hand to help coach and teach the kids. This workshop will provide participants with a basic understanding of how mindfulness can help them create more focus and peace in everyday life. Participants will learn how to create a formal, daily mindfulness practice using mandala circle drawings.In addition, participants will be invited to take part in a larger painting project alongside facilitator, Mary How, MA, ATR-BC, that will become a part of the AwakeningSoul 2018 event in the mountains of North Carolina. Mary is an artist and art therapist that practices and teaches regular mindfulness, emotional health and stress management.
