Car Ride Entertainment
If you've ever been stuck in a car with a bored toddler, you know how truly terrible it can be. Screaming, kicking, snacks and drinks flying.... And that's just the parents!
Okay, okay. Maybe it's not that bad. But it's definitely not my favorite thing, either. And while I'm a huge fan of books (to put it very mildly), sometimes you need to switch it up a little. Here are a few things you can borrow from the library to make those long car rides a little less stressful.

We have these great book and CD sets. Each little bag holds a picture book and the corresponding CD - usually with both the story and some music. This particular set has the story read twice (once with page-turn signals and then once without) and a sung version. You can hand the book to the kid, pop in the CD, and you can both sing along while they also flip through the book. It's silly and fun.

I have to admit, I'm not a big fan of children's music in general but there are a few notable exceptions. Lunch Money is one of them. Their songs are smart, fun, and catchy enough to entertain me and my kid without being condescending. This is their latest CD and I'm particularly fond of the song "Time Out". To top it all off, they're locals. Doesn't get better than that!
