Richland Library's Homebound Service: Books for Seniors
Richland Library's Homebound Service delivers library books to homebound customers 60 and older, giving them regular access to entertaining and informative reading materials.
Each month, about 1,200 books are delivered to more than 170 customers who can no longer visit the library. We currently serve seniors in 25 facilities, as well as 45 seniors in their homes. For many of these customers, the books they receive from the library are a true source of comfort.
“I’m in pain all the time,” said one long-time customer, “But when I get a good book, I forget about the pain.”
Homebound customers have access to well over one million books in Richland Library's circulating collection, including Large Print. Library staff and volunteers hand-select the materials based on the reading preferences of each individual, and those customers do not have to worry about any fees or overdue fines.
