The State newspaper digital content
Richland Library recently contracted with information provider, Newsbank, to digitize The State newspaper from 1923 to 1986 for Richland Library customers. This project filled in the gap from 1923 – 1986 for searchable online coverage of The State newspaper. The digitization has been completed through 1980. With the new digital content Richland Library now provides scanned and searchable images of The State newspaper from 1891 – 1980ish and searchable text from 1987 – present for library card holders, 24/7. The new content has become a major resource for Richland County historians and genealogists.
To access The State digital images go to Newsbank and click the “start now” button. Type in your Borrower ID and PIN. There are several modules in this database. Select “South Carolina Historical newspapers” for the digital images from 1891-1980ish.
Just another example of the library’s pledge to Access Freely.
