Fourteen Days Remain

As of today there are exactly two weeks left to purchase a health insurance plan within the Marketplace and have health care coverage that starts on January 1, 2014.

Fourteen days…

If you are a senior citizen who has health insurance provided by Medicare, you do not need to do anything.

If you are an individual receiving Medicaid, you do not need to do anything.

If you are an individual receiving health insurance through your workplace, you do not need to do anything.

However, if you do not have health insurance, the Affordable Care Act, passed in March 2010, requires that all individuals secure health insurance, or a pay a fee.

If you need help determining if you are eligible for a tax credit or cost sharing reduction, signing up for insurance, or securing an exemption from the penalty you can do this in several ways:

  • Visit healthcare.gov
  • Call the federal hotline at 1-800-318-2596

  • Find a local help with a Certified Navigator or Certified Application Counselor to assist you
  • Mail in a completed application
