Early Literacy Tips to Help You Raise a Reader:

  • Read to your child every day.
  • Books should be everywhere in your home and even the car. Wherever you go, carry a book.
  • Simple is best. Read short books with ABCs, shapes, numbers, colors and sounds.
  • Point out things in the world around your child, and ask questions about them.
  • Find time to talk, sing and play with your child. Even just a few minutes a day will make a difference.
  • It’s all so new. Read books that describe new things like colors, shapes and more.
  • No time to share books? No worries. We have Playaway audiobooks, books-on-CD and books that can be downloaded onto your PC, MP3 player or eReader.
  • Pick a time and get into a daily reading routine.
