Meet New Resident Artist: Maria Fabrizio!

I first heard about Maria a couple of years ago, when a colleague of mine was telling me about the work she'd done for National Public Radio's popular show Morning Edition. In this special series of art pieces, Maria chose an NPR news story each morning and illustrated her interpretation of it. She's illustrated headlines ranging everywhere from medical marijuana to desegregation. She continues this morning ritual on her blog Wordless News, beginning at 4:45 each day.

We are so excited to have Maria here as our newest Artist in Residence to connect our community with her expertise as an artist, and designer. She's working on providing amazing art experiences for customers of all ages, teaching about her illustration and design processes, and providing office hours each week to give the community a chance to ask questions, chat about art and life, and just get to know a real, working local artist. Maria's also looking forward to sharing and learning about how our local current events and personal news stories can be turned into pieces of art as well. Stay tuned!

In the meantime, drop in to see her Tuesdays and Thursdays between 3-5pm in her Studio on the 2nd floor of the Main library.
