Research and Readers’ Advisory Associate, Part-time (Classification Level 104)
We’re seeking to hire a Research and Readers’ Advisory Associate, Part-time!
Richland Library is seeking an enthusiastic, outgoing, and strongly customer-service oriented individual to work at the Research and Readers’ Advisory Department at Main. In this position, you will be assisting customers in locating and using materials, Library equipment, and other technology resources; and offering fluent readers’ advisory service to our customers in person, via telephone, or online.
Good judgment, accuracy, tact, and adaptability are some of the attributes needed to perform the tasks associated with this position, ensuring that our customers have an enjoyable library experience.

Here are some of the things you would be doing if serving in this position:
Answering reference questions for Library customers in the Library, utilizing print and online resources at the Business and Careers and Research and Readers’ Advisory Departments.
Providing readers’ advisory services and bibliographic instruction.
Conducting interlibrary loan activities.
Communicating and interpreting general Library policies and procedures to customers.
Assisting customers in various capacities, such as: working on résumés and job applications; locating and using materials, using a variety of Library equipment, e.g. microfilm equipment, assistive technology equipment; assisting with reserves and renewals.
Assisting with collecting and reporting transaction statistics; as well as organization and maintenance of department collections, files and databases.
Assisting with programs related to the Business and Careers and Research and Readers’ Advisory Departments, including conducting computer classes.
Assisting with troubleshooting issues with computer software and hardware.
Participating in special activities as assigned.
Performing work in other public service areas as needed.

At least two years of post high school education from an accredited college or university. Transcripts must be provided upon hire.
Specialized subject knowledge or skills developed through work experience and/or education where appropriate. In this position, skills include current technology pertinent to Business and Careers and Research and Readers’ Advisory, for example: IM, videoconferencing, social software, and MS Office Products.
Valid drivers’ license and safe driving record may be required.
Ability to perform duties of the job functions: additional skills as required by job.

Salary: $13.00 per hour
Hours: 20 hours per week: Mondays and Tuesdays 1:00 - 9:00 pm; every other weekend: Saturday 9:00 am – 6:00 pm, Sunday 2:00 – 6:00 pm

This job involves being “on the move” in our libraries: It will include standing, walking, crouching, stooping, squatting, twisting, climbing, pushing/pulling, and lifting.
