We’re seeking a summer “Teen Center Intern, Part-time” (Temporary, Paid Internship)
Approximately June 11 – August 10, 2018 (Continuation through August 17 may be possible)
Richland Library seeks to hire a dependable, organized and motivated intern to assist in the work of the Teen Center. The ideal candidate enjoys working with teens, is friendly, demonstrates initiative, and has good computer and hands-on arts & crafts skills.
The intern will provide assistance primarily in the Teen Makerspace, and in the rest of the Teen Center as needed. He or she will perform work on other Teen Center related projects throughout the summer. Projects may include assisting in the delivery of library programs and services.

Here are some of the things you would be doing in this position:
Assisting in developing, organizing and demonstrating teen arts, crafts, and maker projects in our Teen Makerspace.
Assisting with Teen Center related projects.
Assisting in maintaining all Teen Center spaces.
Performing other associated duties as required or assigned.
Interested in what you’ve read so far? Here are minimum requirements needed to be considered for this internship opportunity:
Completion of at least 2 years of high school and attainment of at least age 16.
Evidence of interest in public library service and especially in providing excellent service to customers.
Evidence of interest in and experience with crafting, making, and hands-on projects.
Baby-sitting experience, camp counselor, or previous Library Junior Volunteer experience preferred.
Additional skills and abilities as required by the job.
Ability to perform job functions.

Minimum Time/Work Commitment Expected:
Expectations are that the intern will complete 15 hours per week for 9 weeks. A set schedule will be expected. There may be flexibility with the dates such as an earlier start date or later ending date, although this would still include a total of 9 weeks of work.

Salary: $13.00 per hour
Hours: 15.0 hours/week: Monday-Friday 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Duration: 9 weeks. June 11 – August 10, 2018 (Continuation through August 17 may be possible)
(Job Classification Level 104) (FLSA Status: Non-Exempt)
** Position may include working in other locations in addition (other Library locations plus various other places in the community as needed). Richland Library may also change location and schedule of any library job dependent upon needs of the system. Parking is not provided.
This job involves being “on the move” in our libraries: It will include standing, walking, crouching, stooping, squatting, twisting, climbing, pushing/pulling, and lifting.
