Today Is The Day
Today is the last day to purchase health insurance in the Federal Marketplace. Today is the last day to receive federal assistance to help pay for your new health insurance plan. Today is the last day to not have health insurance without paying a financial penalty.
Open enrollment began October 1, 2013 and will end tonight at 11:59pm. If you have an application that has been started at healthcare.gov, but was not completed due to technical difficulties, you have a extended enrollment period. However, you must have at least started your application by the end of today.
These last six months have been full of changes for our country and our local community. The first national open enrollment period has been an experience for us all. We have seen customers with low deductibles and even lower premiums, and we have talked to customers who are ineligible to purchase health insurance. We have also talked with customers who are willing to pay the federal penalty for not having insurance and we have helped customers file for exemptions.
At Richland Library we are working to answer every Affordable Care Act question, and there are many. For this reason we will be assisting customers today from 9:00am to 9:00pm at the Main branch of Richland Library (1431 Assembly Street). We will have a few Certified Navigators and Application Counselors to help determine eligibilty and help enroll. Our goal since the beginning has been to keep you informed, and we will do that until we close tonight at nine. We are not taking appointments, only walk-ins. If you are planning to apply for health insurance today, please know that the lines and hold times are long. Click here to see a video of our library serving customers on The Today Show.
Today is March 31, 2014. Today is the day.
