World Famous Author and Illustrator Anita Lobel to Speak at Richland Library

Anita Lobel is one of the most important children's book authors and illustrators of our time. She has written and illustrated more than 60 books. They are in the canon of the most important, highest quality books for children. Ms. Lobel's first book, Sven's Bridge, was named one of the New York Times Best Illustrated Books of the Year for 1965. On Market Street   was named a Caldecott Honor Book in 1982. The detailed paintings in her picture books evoke charm and warmth, and her stories are elegantly told. No other artist so beautifully draws the details of a flower, as portrayed in Allison's Zinnia, or a sunrise on the farm, as seen in Hello Day.  Ms. Lobel's picture books are artistically beautiful and perfect for sharing with young children. Her memoir No Pretty Pictures: A Child of War, recounts her childhood in Nazi-occupied Poland, and was a finalist for the National Book Award for young people.

Don't miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to hear her speak and see her work.
