Walker Local and Family History Center

PLEASE NOTE:

During renovation of Richland Library Main, the Walker Local and Family History Center staff will be available to assist customers by appointment only on Mondays - Fridays from 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Please contact us via email for an appointment or for more information.

The Walker Local and Family History Center is located on the first level of the Richland Library Main. Our staff are available to guide your research during regular library hours.

Collection emphasis is on local and family history in the South Carolina midlands and the collection continues to grow through library funding and generous donations from our community.

While the print collection does not circulate, online resources are accessible through the Local History Digital Collection. Our obituary index contains over one millions records. Other recent acquisitions include the Otis Prince surname files and the State Hospital cemetery survey

You don't have to have southern ancestry to use the database resources in the Walker Local and Family History Center.  Richland Library provides patrons with access to several genealogy databases. Also, we are a FamilySearch affiliate. Customers can order microfilm through the FamilySearch catalog and request that it be sent to the Richland library.

Have questions about these resources? Just call (803) 929-3402 or send us an email dbloom@richlandlibrary.com
