Snakes at the Library!

Last month at Southeast, David Bookman from City of Reptiles visited the library with a show and tell discussion on reptiles. As part of the summertime children's programming initiative, this interactive presentation wowed kids and parents alike, showcasing numerous species of snakes and other reptiles.

Mr. Bookman shared educational information about all his scaly friends, including eating habits and other trivia.

Did you know? A ball python, despite being non-venomous, is still a deadly killer. Rather than biting its prey, it uses its strong, muscular body to wrap around the victim and slowly crush it to death. Also, some pythons can go up to six months without eating! Wow!

A huge thank you goes out to Mr. Bookman and his assistants for bringing the City of Reptiles to Southeast! Over 400 patrons came out to enjoy the show last month, and we look forward to Mr. Bookman's next appearance!
