Like a Boss: Teen Entrepreneurship Courses

Ready to create what you love and be your own boss? Richland Library is offering teens the opportunity to work in small groups with professionals from the field in our Teen Entrepreneurship Courses.

Seats are limited and applications are available through the Richland Library Teen Center. Please call (803) 231-6351 between 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, to register. Registrants must be the required age by June 4, 2018. Registrants are expected to attend all of the sessions in their chosen course. Registration is now open.

Fiber Arts Course at Richland Library Main (Open to six participants ages 15-18)
Learn how to create and price textile arts products while discovering opportunities for selling your work.
Session 1: Monday, June 11
Session 2: Wednesday, June 13
Session 3: Wednesday, June 20
Session 4: Wednesday, June 27
Session 5: Wednesday, July 11
Each session is scheduled 2 - 5 p.m.

Culinary Arts Course at Richland Library Main (Open to eight participants ages 15-18)
Meet business mentor, Sarah Simmons, create your own menu item and learn how to start your own food business.
Session 1: Monday, July 16
Session 2: Tuesday, July 17
Session 3: Thursday, July 19
Session 4: Monday, July 23
Session 5: Tuesday, July 24
Each session is scheduled 3 - 6 p.m.

Illustrative Arts Course at Richland Library Blythewood (Open to ten participants ages 12-18)
Get advice from writer Chad Bowers and illustrator Avery Harrison on how to get started in the comic/graphic novel industry, create your own short comic, and get your work published.
Session 1: Tuesday, July 17
Session 2: Tuesday, July 24
Session 3: Tuesday, July 31
Session 4: Tuesday, August 7
Each session is scheduled 6 – 8 p.m.

Music Industry Course at Richland Library North Main (Open to ten participants ages 15-18)
Learn the basics of the music industry, including songwriting and recording, with musician and producer Sheem One.
Session 1: Wednesday, July 11, 6 – 7:30 p.m.
Session 2: Thursday, July 12
Session 3: Thursday, July 19
Session 4: Thursday, July 26
Session 5: Thursday, August 2
Sessions 2-5 are scheduled 2 – 5 p.m.
