There are lots of exciting titles being released in 2019!  Here are the top five on my personal list:

The Only Woman in the Room book cover

Marie Benedict's upcoming novel The Only Woman in the Room is based upon the true story of screen legend Hedy Lamarr.  Lamarr was far more than a glamour icon; she staged a daring escape from the Nazis and was a brilliant inventor whose work laid the foundation for Bluetooth, GPS, and secure WiFi. I don't often read historical fiction, but I'm fascinated by Lamarr's story and am excited to read The Only Woman in the Room.

Release date January 8, 2019

The Bobcat cover

This debut novel from Katherine Forbes Riley tells the story of Laurelie, a wounded young woman whose life is forever changed by a chance encounter in the woods with an injured bobcat and a mysterious hiker.  Reviewers have called The Bobcat "intensely lyrical and deeply involving" and full of "strange beauty."  This book is right up my alley: a redemptive story with raw, dark edges that blends elements of love, nature, art, and philosophy into a mesmerizing portrayal of what it is to be human. I can't wait to get my hands on a copy!

Release date June 5, 2019

The Testaments book cover

The ending of Margaret Atwood's classic The Handmaid's Tale left readers with lots of questions about the fate of Offred and the other citizens of the Republic of Gilead. We'll finally get our answers in Atwood's upcoming book The Testaments!  The story picks up fifteen years after the events of The Handmaid's Tale and I'm so excited to see what will be revealed.

Release date September 10, 2019

The Witches Are Coming book cover

Lindy West is a bold, unrepentant, hilarious voice for modern women and I devoured her memoir Shrill: Notes from a Loud Woman in a single day.  Her new book, The Witches Are Coming, promises to be a scorchingly funny and illuminating adventure through American culture.

Release date September 17, 2019

It has been eight long years since Erin Morgenstern dazzled the world with her debut novel The Night Circus. Her upcoming book, The Starless Sea, follows Zachary Rawlins on a journey that begins with a mysterious book and leads to a secret underground world. I was completely swept away by the magical world Morgenstern created in her first book and am so excited to embark on another journey with this talented author.
