Midlands employers have already started advertising to hire seasonal workers as the holiday season approaches.
Scan the list below to see who’s now hiring, and check back here periodically, because we will be updating the list as more information becomes available from these and other employers.
Lowe’s – will be hiring 20,000 seasonal workers nationwide, with 31 such positions currently open in Columbia, West Columbia, and Lexington.
UPS – Will be hiring 100,000 seasonal workers nationwide, and is currently advertising nine such positions in Columbia/West Columbia.
FedEx – Has plans to add -70,000 workers for the holidays (two currently for Columbia/West Columbia).
Amazon – Plans to add 100,000 seasonal workers nationwide; no Midlands openings at this point, but check with Integrity Staffing (who hires for the West Columbia warehouse) for updates.
Michael’s – The craft store chain will be picking up 16,000 additional staff for the holidays, with sixteen current openings in the Columbia area.
Fresh Market– the grocery store chain is looking to add 1,500 workers for the holidays, with seven current seasonal openings in the Columbia area.
Best Buy – will be making thousands of seasonal hires, with eight positions currently listed for metro Columbia.
Walmart – will be hiring 20,000 seasonal workers nationwide. As of this writing, no Columbia-area seasonal openings are advertised, but more than fifty regular positions are listed.
Target – has announced that their seasonal hiring this year will be “on par” with 2019’s, when it was 130,000. Currently, for the Midlands (including their Lugoff distribution center), there are nine open seasonal positions.
Gap Inc. – also owns Old Navy, Banana Republic, and Athleta, among others, and has plans for holiday hiring, although no seasonal positions in this area are currently advertised. (The Gap has six current regular openings in metro Columbia.)
Kohl’s – no numbers are provided for overall holiday hiring, but eight seasonal openings are now being advertised for Columbia/Lexington.
Dollar Tree – this discount chain and Family Dollar (owned by Dollar Tree) will be hiring 25,000 associates nationwide for the holiday season. No current seasonal openings are listed, but they are advertising fifty-one regular positions in the Midlands.
Dick’s Sporting Goods – anticipates hiring 9,000 seasonal workers nationwide, with a variety of such positions currently open in the Columbia area.
Sam’s Club – is planning on hiring 2,000 seasonal employees; currently advertising forty regular positions in the Midlands.
