Grace for President

Grace Campbell can hardly believe it when her teacher tells her that there's never been a woman president. Right then and there, she decides that she will run for president--of her class. It looks like smooth sailing for Grace until she gets some unexpected competition from Thomas Cobb, captain of the soccer team, blue ribbon science fair winner and school spelling bee champ.
Grace rolls up her sleeves and works hard to prove to her classmates that she has what it takes to be president. Thomas, on the other hand, thinks that he has nothing to worry about since the boys have more votes. Finally, it's the day of the election and Grace and Thomas are neck-and-neck.
Who will win?
When it comes to voting, remember that all elections are important. Whether it's the school board, county council or the President of the United States, all adults who can vote, should vote.
Remind the grown ups in your house to always vote in every election.

ACTIVITIES:
Make Your Own Campaign Poster
campaign [kam-peyn]
noun
1: a series of activities that are done to achieve a goal.
Pretend like you are running for President just like Grace! Create your own campaign poster that represents who you are and what you stand for.
Supplies:
- Paper
- Crayons, markers, pencils, pens, etc.
- Picture of you (optional)
First, brainstorm what you want your poster to say. This could be your name, things you like, things you dislike, how you want to make a difference, or even a snazzy quote to show off your personality. What are things you can say to encourage people to “vote” for you? Next, get to designing. Be creative and make a poster that represents all things you. This is a fun way to practice because you might decide you want to campaign one day. Whether you become class president or president of the United States, you are capable of so many wonderful and amazing things!
