Are you wanting to check the status of your absentee ballot? Here are the steps you need to take.

In order to check the status of your absentee ballot you need to go to the Voter Absentee Status Request page on the South Carolina Election Commission website.

Once on the page, you will be asked to enter some information: County, First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth, and the last four digits of your Social Security number. Then choose "Submit" at the bottom of the page.

You should see a results page that gives registration information such as residential address, voting precinct and location, as well as the voting districts you are eligible for based on your address.

At the bottom of this same results page is a section in a box: "Select the election(s) for which you completed an Absentee Application". If you registered to vote absentee in the primary in June, you will see that option and if you registered to vote in the Statewide General Election, you will also see that option. You can select one or both to see the status of your application and ballot.

Once you choose "Submit" at the bottom of the page, your results will appear at the bottom of the following page in a box. These results include dates for the following actions: when the absentee ballot application request was received, when the application was mailed to the voter, when the application was received from the voter, when the absentee ballot was mailed to the voter, and when the absentee ballot was received from the voter.

The bottom of this results page also states that: "If you returned your application by mail, fax or email and it was received after October 24th, you missed the application deadline and will NOT be mailed a ballot. Consider voting absentee in person or voting on election day at your polling place. If the information above is incorrect, please contact your county's Voter Registration Office" at:
