The holidays are the perfect time of year for a little at-home creativity and cheer. Here are some of our Studio Services team's favorite festive ways to DIY the holiday season plus all the gear you'll need to perfect your craft.
1. Custom gift tags with the button maker
Make reusable gift name tags that double as a wearable button.
2. Personalized stockings
with the Silhouette Cameo
All you need is a stocking, heat transfer vinyl and the Silhouette Cameo to create your own customized stockings. Create your design in the Silhouette Studio software, cut it out on the Cameo machine and then iron it onto your stocking or other fabric items for extra holiday cheer.
🎅 Pro Tip: Want to take it a step further and make your own stocking too? Snag a sewing machine while you’re picking up the Cameo.
3. Family pictures with the photography kit, optional lights and backdrop
Set up the Cannon EOS Rebel T7i Camera on the included tripod to snap your own family pictures. We recommend using natural light or combining the backdrop kit with any of our various lighting options.
🎅 Pro Tip: Want to take it a step further? Stop by the Production Lab on the Second Level at Richland Library Main to use Photoshop to edit your newly captured photos. You can also find Photoshop tutorials on LinkedIn Learning.
4. Customized wood ornaments with the wood burning kit
Decorate your own wood ornaments or other wood products with our wood burning pin and assorted tips.
5. Etched gifts with the Dremel
Use the Dremel’s engraving and sanding bits to create a variety of customized gifts. Ideas include: etched clay flower pots, initial stone pendants and engraved leather phone cases.
6. Homemade gift bags with the sewing machine
Use your fabric scraps to sew environmentally friendly gift bags that are tied off with a festive bow.
7. Home entertainment with assorted games and puzzles
Spending extra time at home this holiday season doesn’t have to be boring. Browse through our collection of games, activities and puzzles for safe and cozy home entertainment options for the whole family.
8. Get organized with the label maker
“A place for everything and everything in its place”. Achieve your organization goals this season with the help of our label maker. Create custom tags to help tidy toys, craft supplies, pantry essentials and more.
9. Fill your home with festive tunes using the musical keyboard
You don’t have to be an experienced pianist to try your hand at playing classic holiday tunes. Make embracing imperfection and learning something new part of your holiday tradition.
10. Connect with loved ones virtually with our collection of web and document cameras
Need some extra tech gear to connect to your family’s virtual meeting? We have you covered with USB powered web cameras or take your meetings up a notch by using our document cameras to read books with friends and loved ones online.
