Hardly any photo collection compares to the magic that is Glory. A must for our home. A must for Black children, for all children.
-Ibram X. Kendi
Never have I ever dreamed of owning coffee table books. I don't even own a coffee table. Glory: Magical Visions of Black Beauty has me considering purchasing a coffee table, just so this beautiful work can have a place to call home.
I don't remember how I came across this photo collection, but it spoke to me then and every time I flip through the pages it continues to speak to me. The images in this collection are beyond breathtaking.
There is so much beauty in Black skin. So much depth, so much power! Glory shares this beauty with us, removing the stigma of what is considered beautiful with Black skin. This coffee table book is filled with the joy of Black children, Black culture, Black History, and Black hair. It is full of hope and inspiration. Carefully placed are many quotes and proverbs that are well known in Black communities.
Never be limited by other people's limited imaginations.
-Dr. Mae Jemison
My words cannot fully express the beauty that is this photo collection. It is truly a work that you need to see with your own eyes in order to appreciate it. Share this with your children, especially your Black children. Remind them that they are their ancestors' wildest dreams!
A people without the knowledge of their past, history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots.
-Marcus Garvey
