Keep the learning going this Summer with these fun activities for children and families.
This summer we're encouraging you to find fun and creative ways to take the inside out and bring the outside in. Here are a few of our favorites. Show us your favorite Summer Learning Challenge activities on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using #iLearnBecause.
1. Explore Our Collection
Want to know everything there is to know about salamanders, snakes and other slimy things? Try our Personalized Recommendations service and we’ll pick out items specccccifically for you.
Tune in to our online programs every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. or explore our outdoor programming options like storytimes, movies and musical performances.
This summer we'll be debuting interactive StoryWalks at local parks. Perfect for young readers and families, these short trails bring together early literacy, fitness, and the great outdoors. Stay tuned for details!
StoryWalk is made possible thanks to support from SC Humanities, Prisma Health, the Town of Blythewood, the Richland County Recreation Commission and WLTX.
5. Take a Field Trip
Load your family into the car or catch The Comet to explore the variety of public art on display in our community. Pro tip…start your field trip at your favorite library location.
P.S. Don't forget--Reading for just 30 minutes a day can prevent the Summer Slide and help ensure that students return to school in August ready to learn. Track your reading and learning with our printable track record, here.
