When you travel with your significant other to Africa, you can find lots of romantic places. On Valentine’s Day, couples are looking for romance. Africa has everything to offer to couples from destinations that are romantic, unforgettable or just a total adrenalin rush. A couple, for example, can hike on Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and spend time in safari camps in Serengeti National Park that offer the best of both worlds. Actually, a tent in a camp can be a luxury tent. Or you can go to a private island offering fishing trips and sunset cruises off the coast of Tanzania. You can do cage diving with the great white shark off the coast and visit the Kruger National Park to see the big game animals in South Africa, not to mention the sleeping under the stars in South Africa or Zambia.
Ghana
Ghana is the second-largest cocoa producer in the world with an annual average production of 850,000 metric tons. In 2007, Ghana, as part of a promotion to chocolate products, changed the National Chocolate Day to Valentine’s Day. On February 14, you can go to performances, and restaurants change the menu for the special day.
Kenya
The Valentine’s Day is similar to that in the US. People give chocolate, roses or teddy bears to their significant others.
South Africa
They celebrate the day with their significant others. Young people will find out their secret admirers on this day. Young girls pin their sweetheart’s name on their sleeve. They are called “Lupercalia” in honor of the ancient Roman festival. However, in ancient Rome Lupercalia was on February 15, and while in part it was to purify the city and to promote healthy lifestyles, it has been transformed very much to the present day Valentine’s Day.
