"Summer reading is critical, not only for helping kids maintain learning while school is out, but also for fostering social-emotional development, discovering the joy of stories, and elevating the importance of lifelong learning." - Stephanie Agresti
It's hard to believe that the school year is over and we're already several weeks into summer break. According to the Scholastic Teacher & Principal School Report, "98% of educators agree that using books, stories, and articles as a starting point is a powerful way to engage students in important conversations." And according to the Scholastic Kids & Family Reading Report™: 8th Edition, 96% of parents agree that reading books over the summer will help their child during the school year."
To help families reach this goal, we have curated two lists, one for children and one for teens with a varied selection of titles that released within the past year. These lists include everything from nonfiction to graphic novels to board books and more. It is our hope that these lists provide a great starting point for you and your family to check out some amazing, new-to-you authors and titles while assisting in preventing the summer slide.
