Happy New Year! As we enter into a new year, it's common for people to set goals or resolutions. Have you thought about yours yet?

Resolutions can range from personal goals, such as losing weight or saving money, to professional goals, such as learning a new skill or improving work habits. If you're a customer at Richland Library, setting a resolution to visit the library more often or to read more books can be a great way to improve your mental and emotional well-being, as well as stay informed and entertained. Here are a few ideas for library-related resolutions you might want to consider:

  1. Make a commitment to read more books: Whether you're a voracious reader or someone who hasn't picked up a book in a while, setting a goal to read more books can be a great resolution. Not only is reading good for your brain, it can also be a relaxing and enjoyable way to spend your free time. Having difficulty choosing books? Consider participating in Richland Library's #BroaderBookshelf challenge. Click here for reading recommendations, which are updated throughout the year.

  2. Take advantage of e-resources: Richland Library offers a wide range of resources beyond just books. For example, you can check out e-magazines on Libby or Flipster, stream movies or television on Hoopla or Kanopy, read publications by the library on biblioboard, or explore our online databases. You might discover something new and interesting that you never would have thought to look for!

  3. Attend library events: Richland Library hosts events such as book clubs, lectures, storytimes, and workshops on a variety of topics and for all ages. Plus, many events take place online, so you can attend from home in your pajamas if you wish! If you're looking for new ways to engage with your community and learn new things, consider attending some of these events. You never know what you might discover.

  4. Support your library: If you're passionate about your library and want to see it thrive, consider making a resolution to support it in some way. This could be through volunteering your time, making a donation, or simply spreading the word about the library and all it has to offer. Click here to see all the opportunities to get involved behind the scenes.

No matter what your resolutions are for the new year, we hope that the library can play a part in helping you achieve your goals. Here's to a happy and productive 2023!
