Crafting can be a fulfilling and enjoyable pastime, but what if you could turn your hobby into something even more meaningful?
That's exactly what the Richland Library Southeast’s Sew Divine group has been doing for years, and they have made an incredible impact on their community through donating the items they have made to those in need. One of their first projects was knitting and crocheting caps for children staying at the local Ronald McDonald House. Since then, the group of about 25 people has made and donated various items, including afghans, quilts, felt blankets, scarves, hats, and caps. Not only are they prolific in their creations for the community, they’re also always delighted to welcome new participants.
Some of the organizations that Sew Divine regularly donates to include The Salvation Army, Prisma Health Children’s Hospital’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Clinic, the Cooperative Ministry, and Epworth Children’s Home. In a year, they often donate items with a total value of upwards of $4,000.00.

The group's impact extends beyond the monetary value of their donations. They create warm and comforting items for people facing difficult times, whether that's a child staying at the Ronald McDonald House or an unhoused person at Transitions Homeless Center.
Fall is a busy season for the group because the warm items they create are in high demand. As the weather turns colder, the group's handmade items are distributed to those in need. The pictures of the members and their work included in this blog post showcase the beauty and care that goes into each item created by Sew Divine.
Sew Divine proves that a small group of people can make a big impact on their community. By using their crafting skills to give back, they have created warmth, comfort, and joy for those who need it most.
