Fiero Code is an e-learning platform for kids or adults and all experience levels. This all-in-one software is designed to teach coding through gamified project-base and story-based learning. The curriculum teaches six different coding languages and integrates robotics and maker devices into the content to let users see the real-world application of their codes. This coding platform has specific modules designed to work with the following coding and robotics hardware, available in the Library of Things collections at Main and Blythewood.

Makey Makey

This invention kit is designed to turn any conductive material into a controller or keyboard. By creating an electrical circuit via alligator clips, the user can connect everyday objects to computer keys that trigger a predetermined action based on coding. Use the Makey Makey to play a banana piano, make game controllers out of coins, or create interactive dioramas.

Raspberry Pi

Raspberry Pi is a microcomputer that was originally designed to teach computer science.  It has subsequently captured the imagination of hobbyists and DIY enthusiasts.  This device can be used to create individualized computing systems like game emulators, robots, smart home devices, and much more.

Ozobot Evo

This small but mighty robot is fantastic for hands-on learning of coding in two different ways.  Color Code markers allow users to draw code directly onto blank paper, bringing coding from the digital realm into the physical one.  Users can also code with OzoBlockly, a visual block language.  Write a program that is uploaded to the robot to control movement and lights.  With Evo, users can also control the robot directly with an app, and record the macros to replay.
