Singer and movie icon Doris Day has died at the age of 97. She began her career as a hit-making big-band singer in the late 1930s but eventually branched out into film, appearing in 39 features from 1948 to 1968. Highlights include Love Me or Leave Me (a critically acclaimed biopic about the singer Ruth Ettig), Alfred Hitchcock's 1956 remake of The Man Who Knew Too Much, and the screen version of the stage musical The Pajama Game.
