U.S. Fleet Forces Band Woodwind Quintet Performance
Tuesday, October 19, 2021 6 p.m. – 7 p.m.
Grab your blanket or lawn chair and celebrate Navy Week on our Hampton Street Plaza with a live performance of classical and modern music from the U.S. Fleet Forces Band Woodwind Quintet.
The U.S. Fleet Forces Band Woodwind Quintet combines the unique sounds of flute, oboe, clarinet, French horn, and bassoon to create a chamber group. They will be performing a variety of works, such as Mozart, Rossini and Joplin to modern works by a variety of American composers.
Established in 1945, the U.S. Fleet Forces (USFF) Band, known as "The Finest of the Fleet," serves as the musical ambassador for Commander, U.S. Fleet Forces Command, in Norfolk, Virginia. Under the direction of Lt. Gregory Fritz, the USFF Band is comprised of 45 Navy musicians that perform in a variety of ensembles and performs for more than 400 engagements annually. Its primary mission is to support Commander, U.S. Fleet Forces Command, by providing musical support for military ceremonies and events, foreign dignitaries, and Navy community outreach engagements.
