Join Richland Library for a community conversation unpacking gun violence in Richland County.
With gun violence on the rise and our community paying the price, Richland Library is holding space to hear the voices of those affected, share experiences and brainstorm ways in which we can create a safer community.
Moderated by Kyle A. Greene, who lost his mentor, SC Senator Clementa Pinckney, at the hands of gun violence in the Mother Emanuel church in Charleston, SC, panelists will share personal experiences of how gun violence has impacted their lives. Panelists include members from these agencies and organizations: Columbia Police Department, Moms Demand Action, MORE Justice, NAMI Mid-Carolina and Richland County Sheriff's Department.
Immediately, following the panel discussion, participants will break out into small groups to brainstorm how we create safer communities.
Joining this conversation will also be various community partners who will share resources for those impacted by gun violence in Richland County.
Free gun locks will be available for attendees.
