Richland Library Main
SNAP at the Library
Wednesday, April 29, 2026 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
DSS's outreach representatives will be at Richland Library to assist customers with answers to their SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or Food Stamps) questions. This can include completing your SNAP interview, asking questions about your benefits, and completing renewal paperwork. If you have any questions about your SNAP benefits and application, this is the event for you.
In December 2025, over 250,000 South Carolina homes received SNAP benefits to feed their families. The SNAP program is one of the state’s core tools for reducing hunger and supporting families in South Carolina. As a poorer state, SNAP supports our children's ability to eat, learn, and grow. It also generates income for our state through store revenue, wages for store workers, distribution, and more.
DSS will be present in the Social Work Access Center on the Third Level. This event is walk-in only; no appointments are needed. Please understand that you will see DSS on a first-come, first-served basis.
Please note - your SNAP application must have already been submitted to DSS at least 48 hours prior to this event for the team to assist with your interview. If you need to apply for SNAP, you can do so on the DSS website, at your local Social Services Office or by visiting the Social Work Center at Richland Library. While we are not employees of the Department of Social Services, we are happy to help you access the SNAP application so you will be prepared for the event at the Library.
We value inclusion and access for all of our customers including those that may need Americans with Disabilities Act accommodations. Please complete this ADA accommodation request form at least two weeks prior to the event to make a reasonable accommodation request.
Have questions about the program? Please reach out to a staff member at the hosting location for additional information.
