Richland Library Sandhills
The Teen Otaku Experience featuring Stephanie Williams
Saturday, June 6, 2026 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Kick off the summer with an adventure of epic proportions at The Teen Otaku Experience!
Celebrate the start of Richland Library’s Summer Learning Challenge with a high-energy event inspired by anime, manga, comics and all things fandom. Whether you're a longtime otaku or just curious to explore, there’s something here for everyone.
Step into our D&D Lounge and embark on a tabletop quest or relax in the Anime Lounge with fellow fans. Test your knowledge in Anime Jeopardy, craft your own ninja headband, and explore hands-on arts and crafts activities. Sip on refreshing boba tea (milk tea with non-dairy creamer and a fruit tea option) while browsing vendors and manga offerings.
Don’t miss the highlight of the day our keynote speaker, Stephanie Williams. Stephanie is a research scientist turned prolific comic writer. She’s best known for bringing Nubia back to relevance for DC Comics with Nubia and the Amazons and Nubia: Queen of the Amazons. Stephanie has worked on titles like Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur: Wreck and Roll, My Little Pony, Alien: Black, White, Blood, Street Sharks, Star Trek, as well as two creator-owned series, Roots of Madness and Temporal.
Wrap-up the day with the Cosplay Tournament, where creativity takes center stage and your favorite characters come to life!
Bring your friends, show off your fandom, and start your summer with imagination, creativity, and community.
An ASL interpreter will be provided for the keynote event with Stephanie Williams and the Cosplay Contest.
