“The mandala, a sacred circle, carries many symbols such as balance, wholeness, completion and infinity.” - Mary How
The Mandala, Sanskrit for “circle”, has been used over centuries by many cultures around the world as a way of practicing the work of mindfulness and spirituality. Artist and art therapist Mary How’s Open Book Exhibition showcases drawings from personal journals, created using fine point markers and mixed media, as well as large acrylic paintings representing some of those journal entries. Other pieces in this exhibit include art created by community members during workshops Mary facilitated as Artist-in-Residence at Richland Library.
