Request Historic Materials
Request for materials from the historic collections of Richland Library's Walker Local and Family History Center.
Richland Library provides digital access to historic images, books, pamphlets, recordings, maps, and other media for educational use, historical research, and to preserve and make accessible our local history. These materials may be used in accordance with U.S. copyright law. Richland Library does not provide licensing or agreements for the use of items in our collection, unless they were originally created by the library and/or are held under copyright by the library.
To determine if an item is protected by copyright, we suggest this copyright guide: Copyright Term and the Public Domain - Copyright Services - LibGuides at Cornell University
Items in the Local History Digital Collections are collected, described, and uploaded by Richland Library staff from the Walker Local & Family History Center. All items have accompanying metadata and descriptions that may assist in determining if an item is under copyright. However, the provision of this information does not imply that an item is free of copyright or that the copyright holder cannot be located. All users must assume the risk and responsibility of the use of any copyrighted materials.
Specifically, items from The State Newspaper Photograph Archive are under copyright by The State newspaper’s parent company, McClatchy, Inc., and licensing is available through their media partner PARS.
Please credit materials from our collections as “Courtesy of Richland Library, Columbia, S.C.” It is also helpful to note the special collection in which the digital item is housed, the original creation date of the item, and, if known, the original author or creator of the item in any citations or lines of credit.
