"Reading is the gateway skill that makes all other learning possible." - Barack Obama
If you are anything like me then the prospect of reading new releases is both exciting and daunting. Each year publishing releases thousands of books; therefore, it's impossible to know and read every single release. Nevertheless, every year I make a personal effort to curate a list of newly released titles that are written by Black authors. Growing up I didn't get the opportunity to read many books with characters that not only looked like me, but also spoke to my personal experiences. While publishing has a lot of work to do, each year we are exposed to great works written by Black authors that feature Black characters. Below you'll find a curated list of 2021 book releases by Black authors that are worth checking out. This isn't an exhaustive list and there are hundreds of other titles by Black authors that are also great reads; however, this list is a great place to start and features titles for all age groups to enjoy. Happy reading!
