The Financial Literacy book review series #FinLit recommends thought-provoking books about money, investing, and personal finance. This post is about Get Good With Money by Tiffany “The Budgetnista” Aliche.
There are only so many ways personal finance guides can tell you the same advice. Two big factors influence whether their words have any impact: Does the author write in a unique style, and is the information organized and easy to follow? In the case of Tiffany Aliche’s Get Good With Money (print, ebook, eaudio), she delivers on both and then some.
Personable writing about money means communicating with readers and not over them. Tiffany happily volunteers hard-taught lessons from her own childhood and young adulthood on the way to financial literacy. She has been scammed, even when she thought she was protecting herself. Her optimism and enthusiasm that helped her bounce back can help readers do the same.
When it comes to structure, each chapter is broken into three sections, The Plan, The Do, and The Review:
The Plan is like an overview of the chapter and it will orient you to and outline the big-picture goal for the chapter.
The Do is all about the steps you will want to take to get to an A in the chapter topic. To help ensure that each step is productive, each Do will finish with Your Assignment.
The Review is a quick and clean snapshot of what you just read. Plus, I might drop in a little opportunity for some extra credit!
With ten neatly arranged chapters written in an approachable style, Aliche offers a great primer for anyone who wants to get a grip on their finances.
